TRYING
TO STAY IN THE WATER!!
Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Just in case you wondered, fortunately nothing happened with
this past storm. Conditions are good and the whole operation
is back on track. Seems like storm season is coming to its end,
so if weather
was a concern we are OK and continue with our expeditions.
In the Local sites we have been diving with Sea lions and seeing
Spotted eagle rays and Mobula rays on a regular basis.
Last trip to Gordo Banks was succesfull with 7 or 8 hammerhead
sharks. On our last trip to Pulmo we didn´t see tiger
shark BUT were compensated in a way with bulls and 3 white tip
reef sharks.
This week we will be conducting several trips to Pulmo. Confirmed trips: 23rd,
27th and 28th of October.
Manta Team... it has been quite busy this past few weeks... thanks
for being so cooperative.

A REWARDING WEEK...
Saturday, October 4, 2008
This week has been very rewarding!!!
Huge school of Hammerheads on the 1st dive in Gordo Banks 2 days
ago.
Today 3 Tiger sharks in Cabo Pulmo swimming around the group for
the entire first dive....
See for youself! Check out this
video...
We recommend taking advantage of the conditions and these encounters,
season for these trips will be done at the end of November.
On local dives, visibility went down this week but sea lions are
very active, we expect visibility to be above 60ft in the coming
week.
Good week end ~
Eran and the Team

SHARK LOVERS...
Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Today we received a call after the 2nd dive in Cabo Pulmo from
Kiki. He was so excited.
The news: 4 bull sharks, 2 nurse shark and 1
tiger shark in the same site!
The sharks were big!
The divers were so thrilled they decided to do their 3rd tank in
the same dive site. We are conducting another trip to Cabo Pulmo
this friday and hope to see them again.

WHAT A WEEK!
Thursday, September 18, 2008
Hello, after almost one week of involuntary vacation we are back
in business. This storm really made our week quite sad without
diving.
We are back in operation and getting busier. FYI, we are running
trips to Pulmo and Gordo, feel free to contact me for any information
regarding the trips.
Jay and Linda Canfild dove with us for 6 days at the end of August
and wrote about us on their site, Tropical
Breeze.
Thank you very much for the note!
C'est la vie I suppose. On behalf of the Manta Team I would like
to wish a bon voyage to our good friend and instructor Marc, we
hope to see you back soon!...

DEAR READERS/DIVERS...
Monday, September 8, 2008
The last 2 weeks have been great again.
We were back to dive The Point and the dives in the site are amazing.
It is possible to see more marine life in this specific dive then
in a week of diving in other destinations. We dove with huge schools
of bait balls, thousands of fish, schools of barracuda, schools
of bonitas, sea lions, rays. There is so much going on underwater
it is unbelievable.
In Gordo banks on last week's tour we saw only four Hammerheads
this time.
Conditions where perfect. On the second dive we swam with schools
of Bonitas as well (tuna).
After lunch at Gordo Banks we went for a quick shallow dive on
the Shipwreck located on the East Cape, the broken Japanese Carrier
is about 80ft long and full of schools of tropical fish.
Have a good week!
The Manta Team

TO OUR NEW FRIENDS...
Sunday, August 19, 2008
It has been a very busy week — people coming in, Manta staff
getting divers ready with equipment, one manager giving directions
to divers on where to go, which boat to take — it was
pretty crazy!
I would like to dedicate a few lines to our clients, former clients,
and new friends... thank you... having people like you makes our
jobs easier.
Greetings to Robert and his daughter Jessica (family too), Dale
and his family, a special thanks to Thomas. Thank you for the pictures,
videos, and great diving. We just love and share your passion for
diving.
Hammerhead sitings are way up and we are expecting more of the
same in September!
The past few days were great with cow-nose rays in Cabo Pulmo
yesterday, hammerheads in Gordo today and a small whale shark of
7m in the local sites today at 8:45 am at 35 ft deep!
Nice job Adriana!
Manta crew... keep up the good work and thank you for being so
efficient!

DEAR DIVERS...
Sunday, August 10, 2008
This week has been full of great surprises and rewards. Melissa told me that
she thinks I need to write this week as I was involved in the adventures and
new discoveries, so here we go:
Another successfully week in Gordo Banks...seems like these shy pelagics (hammerheads)
are getting confident with us. We've been seeing large schools of them all over.
We dove Gordo Banks 2 days this week, 2 dives of each trip, in total 4 dives
with Hammerheads in all of them.
Luis guided the first trip and Nacho guided the 2nd one.
On the 2nd trip I decided to tag along with the group, getting to Gordo Banks
we saw a huge Orca. I have never seen a real Orca, nor had our divers, so it
was an exiting opening for the day.
Water was warm (85°f) – I dove with my T shirt and swim suit!
On the 1st dive, to 125 feet, we saw hammerheads and schools of small tuna. On
the 2nd dive, after a rewarding breakfast on the boat, we had Manta swimming
around the group from the moment we got to the bottom. Everybody where very excited.
I hope Thomas will send me the Video he took from this dive so I can upload it
here.
The trip was really great. My only regret is that I was diving with Air while
the customers and guide used Nitrox 28%.With Nitrox I would have been able to
stay at depth 6-8 minutes more of each dive...That's what happens when you decide
to join a trip at the last moment...
Cabo Pulmo was at its best this week, at 85°f with 100-foot visability and
fish everywhere. Pods of Dolphins on the way and Mantas jumping are already a
usual part of the trip...
On Thursday, we (Kiki, Luis, Sumo and me) went out on a mission of exploration
for new reefs on the East Cape, using an ultralight and the Manta Expedition.
We saw a pod of dolphins on our way but kept on going with our mission. We
got lucky discovering a new unknown reef! We dove the reef twice and
were amazed by the varieity and amount of marine life. The reef was so untouched
and unvisited that the schools of fish swam behind us while diving.
The reef is at 60ft deep, the water so nice we dove only with T shirts and visability
was around 70-80ft. We saw schools of grant, yellow tails, blue and gold snapper,
pork fish, many parrot fish, lots of tiny reef fish, 2 turtles, and some good-sized
Cortez angel fish.
We decided to name this reef MAIA REEF. The dives were beautiful
and we are looking forward to diving there again.
At the Local sites we are having great activity of some schools of rays, visability
went down a bit in the middle of the week to about 30-40 ft but was getting better
since yesterday on the morning tour.
What can I say, we just had so much fun in the last few weeks. Diving is at its
best and should be that way till the end of November.
I am ready for another great week...

DIVING SEASON HAS STARTED...
Thursday, July 31, 2008
Good morning Manta readers! July has come to
its end and the good season is getting started.
We have been conducting expeditions the past few weeks to Gordo
Banks and have been lucky diving with a 3-meter marlin and a large
school of over a hundred scalloped hammerheads all in the same dive.
In Cabo Pulmo five days ago, we saw a 10-meter whale shark and six
days ago, in one of our safety stops, a white tip reef shark.
Water keeps getting warmer everyday.
Since mid-July, we are seeing turtles, schools of
Mobula rays, huge spotted eagle rays and much more marine life...
We just spotted a red sea horse 2 days ago.
The atmosphere in the dive shop and with the Manta Team is at its
best!
We will be conducting more trips to Gordo Banks and Cabo Pulmo throughout
the month, please feel free to contact
us regarding the trips.
