HEADING OUT TO THE SOCORROS?

We have noticed that a lot of divers heading out to the Socorro Islands drop in to Manta Scuba for a few warm up dives before the big liveaboard vacation. With this in mind we decided to launch a page with information about how to be best prepared for what we hear is a great trip.

Spending a few days in Cabo San Lucas with Manta Scuba getting back into the diving groove has been warmly reviewed by both the divers we have met through this arrangement and by the staff on the boats, all of whom we know quite well.

There are several things to keep in mind when heading out to the Socorros. First, the dives are typically deep. Quite a few of our liveaboard divers have arrived in Los Cabos to take their PADI Advanced course before the voyage. Everyone has commented on how it was good dive training to have in preparation for the Socorros.

PADI ADVANCED DIVER COURSE (eLearning) - $120 to PADI , $265 to Manta

Cabo San Lucas has some great sites to advance your skills, enjoy your diving more and learn to dive in more challenging conditions like you may find in the Socorros. During the Advanced course you will do 5 dives; a deep dive to 100 feet to experience how to manage nitrogen narcosis, improve your navigation skills on another dive and find out what diving at during the night is like.

This is a very popular and fun course. The majority of your time will be spent diving and trying out new diving techniques, skills and exploring new environments. There are optional dives that you can chose what specialty diving areas interest you. Choices include; photography, drift diving (also great for the dive live aboard trip), peak performance buoyancy, naturalist, Fish ID and more.

DIVE NITROX ON YOUR SOCORRO ISLANDS TRIP

To get the most dive time on your dive vacation to the Socorros, and knowing that many of the best dives are deeper dives, we recommend you take the online training at home and during your warm up dives in Los Cabos before heading off, finish your PADI Nitrox certification.
