Los Cabos, Mexico - Scuba Diving in the Sea of Cortez is an amazing experience and Gordo Banks is the pinnacle of awe inspiring explorations, literally! The legendary sea mount is a magnet for pelagic sea life in the Cabo San Lucas area.

The top of this underwater mountain lies at 130ft under the surface and we will be conducting two deep dives in the site. It is a blue water dive site out into the Sea of Cortez, approximately one hour boat ride each way.

Schools of Hammerhead Sharks are the star attractions, but pelagic (open water) fish like Tuna, Marlin, and Manta Rays are encountered on many dives. There are always huge schools of jacks, snappers and grunts swaying ryhtmically in the water column.

The top of the sea mount is like the dark side of the moon.... huge cracks, canyons, black coral, sponges and other types of sedentary life cover the pinnacle.

For divers with advanced certification or documented experience in deep diving and with current experience. EAST CAPE DIVE TOUR

The East Cape tour is a 3-tank diving expedition that combines a 1st dive in the sea-mount of Gordo Banks, searching for Hammerheads, Manta Rays, tuna and schools of fish in the thousands. Afterwards we head for 2 more dives in an area that no other dive operators in Los Cabos dive! See more on the East Cape Excursion page.

DIVE GORDO BANKS ON NITROX

We always recommend diving Gordo Banks on NITROX, due to the depth (120 - 140 feet) and bottom time restriction of diving air. If you are not already certified to dive on NITROX you can follow the link below to complete the online training prior to your trip. Other than the fee paid to PADI ($195) your only cost to complete your NITROX certification with MANTA is the cost of 2 NITROX tank fills for this trip - $10 each and PADI certification fee of $35.

NITROX RENTALS FOR CERTIFIED ENRICHED AIR DIVERS

NITROX mixes up to 32% are $10 per tank

We strongly recommend Nitrox if you want to see the underwater spectacle of the offshore seamount Gordo Banks. Using Nitrox 28 extends allowable bottom time by 60%.

IMPORTANT DIVE INFO

This expedition is for advanced or experienced divers. You must have an advanced certification or a logbook showing experience in deep diving and your dive skills must be current. If you are not sure, need a Tune Up or wish to earn an Advanced certification so you can explore this world class site with us - just send us an email. With a little planning we can make your dive plans a reality.

Due to the advanced conditions of this beautiful but deep site, a day of local diving is required prior to the trip, unless you have proof of current advanced diving skills.
